FAQWhat is WIN time?
This is a block of time when all students within a class work on individualized materials. This could be enrichment and challenging work for those ready for it, or remediation programs to assist student on targeted skills. Students can work on differentiated material with the classroom teachers, RtI teachers, paraprofessionals etc. Will my child miss important instruction from their classroom teacher when they are at RtI? -No- RtI is in addition to the core curriculum not in place of it. Since it takes place during their WIN period, no one misses core instruction. Rather they are working on targeted skills. Some RtI students will work on skills with their classroom teacher. Others may work with the RtI teachers/paraprofessionals. When your child is at RtI, their classroom teacher will be conducting differentiated instruction to the other children in class. This might be in the form of guided reading, learning stations, extension lessons and silent reading time. Will my child have to make up work that is missed? -No- Your child will not be responsible to make up work that is being conducted while they are at RtI since the work during this time is individualized. However, the classroom teacher may find time later in the day to work with your child on reinforcement from that days lesson if necessary. Will my child miss recess due to RtI services? -NEVER- Recess is important for a students physical development and social interaction. RtI services will not be conducted during these valuable cognitive breaks. |
