What's it all about?Do you love to READ? Do you WANT to love READING? Come join our Battle of the Books Book Club! We usually meet once a week during lunch. However, it will be a little different this year. We will meet virtually after the completion of a book. These CLUB MEETINGS are a laidback social event to inspire of love of books and talking about books. The COMPETITION at the end of the year is a lot of fun too. Students work in teams to answer questions about all the books read. We compete against other schools in Warren County through the Warren County Consortium for Student Enrichment. The teams will be made of either all 3rd, all 4th or a combination. More information about the competition will be discussed throughout the year. Students are required to read every book in order to compete. Books will be provided for the students and each student should be fully prepared to discuss the book at each meeting.

Additional info!Battle of the Books is meant to challenge students by reading books they may not be exposed to within the core curriculum. It is an optional club. However, those who choose to join should do so with full commitment to completely read every book. As a parent, there are several ways to review books. One option is through Common Sense Media. This site provides parents with book reviews and the topics/content covered within each book. Click on the link for more information.

This club is open to ALL HTS third and fourth graders. If any student is unsure, they are encouraged to give it a try. They can remove themselves at any time until January... that's when the competition practice becomes more intense. Sometimes, the amount of reading can be overwhelming. Parents are welcome to read the books to or with their child.. This is not a requirement, just an option for students who are on the fence or for families enjoy reading together.
